The crank
Since 2009, the “cradle” from Oberhausen, as a school partner in cooperation with the Realschule Horkesgath, has been offering educational support during the lunch break as a fixed part of the timetable.
The full day at the Realschule Horkesgath is a place where children and young people feel comfortable and where their needs are seen and individually supported.
For us, respectful educational support means appreciating the personality of each individual child, taking into account individuality, promoting skills and leading them to take personal responsibility and shared responsibility for the community.
What does the pedagogical care during the lunch break of years 5/6/7 include?
The care offered by "the crank" includes reliable, timely pedagogical care for the pupils by our multi-professional team.
Daily freely selectable leisure activities, artistic, sporting and playful activities have been an integral part of school life for many school years. All offers and activities are freely selectable for each student, however, participation in an offer is mandatory and firmly assigned to the respective timetable.
On Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12:40 p.m. to 2:25 p.m. For example, the following offers will take place:
Billiards & table football in the meeting point, football, art and creative things, schoolyard supervision, table tennis, reading & listening, snack & play, physical activity games in the sports hall.

Our team provides educational support in the self-learning center and an extensive range of libraries, which is available to all grades of the Realschule.
